Moist!

I live west of Seattle, which is close enough to claim a Jimothy connection, but not close enough to ever have a sighting. What we do have are plenty of banana slugs. I hope you see where this is going... Yes! Banana slug art. I painted this one with a garage sale purchased

Another year, another self-portrait

I completed my birthday self portrait with a box of free acrylics, graphite, derwent wc pencils, a reused canvas, and repurposed subject. The results are as expected and a metaphor for the coming year, I think. I chose the least flattering angle possible because that was the best way to balance my phone.

Art Show Prep: Merchandizing

I'm new to merchandizing my paintings, but I took a few lessons from last year's art show. One of my fellow artists (thank you, Miranda!) gave me the skinny on what I needed to do. Scan. I scanner for Christmas, so I was able to start digitizing my watercolors and things. It's a Canon

This to That: Pour Down The Art!

We haven't been to many garage sales lately, but I did get a chance to pop into the local thrift store. I picked up this pour-over acrylic painting for fifty cents. On the back, it's stamped "Dana's Pour Expressions," which is funny to me because it's a pun, but a really bad one.

Art Supplies, or the origin story of my “Envelope Liner Collection”

I'm always on the look-out for cheap art supplies. It's like a game -- what can I find in the recycle bin? I started to love these strange little bits of barely seen pattern. I filched them at every opportunity, and soon discovered there was a lot of variation. It seemed wrong to not keep

Upcoming Art Show: Harstene Point

I'm participating, once again, in this small art show in September. This time I have a plan to sell prints instead of only originals, and I think I will throw in a few options for my garage sale redux paintings. I have three I'm mostly okay with, so we'll see if I can get a

Llama Justice: Tripping through mediums

This image may seem strange, considering I live in the PNW, but I did spend a few months living in Peru. This was taken at Machu Picchu with a llama that was literally on the edge of a terrace and so it seemed, its temper. I honestly wondered how many tourists had been

This to That: Zhuzhing the Flowers

Y'all, I hit a garage sale mother lode last weekend with this painting. First, it's a hefty 20x16 canvas and it's signed. I loved it in all its hesitant, fugly purples and pinks and knew I had to take it home with me. My husband sighed and loaded it in the car, so
