Another year, another self-portrait

I completed my birthday self portrait with a box of free acrylics, graphite, derwent wc pencils, a reused canvas, and repurposed subject. The results are as expected and a metaphor for the coming year, I think. I chose the least flattering angle possible because that was the best way to balance my phone. I think I need to get a small wall mirror for any future attempts, or a way to balance my phone that doesn’t emphasize the negative. And better paint. And maybe I could use an unused canvas.

I could also take more care with the background, but honestly I found it overly complicated and consisting of boring bluey whites and 70s paneling. Maybe I should paint my head floating in space? That would be fun.  I already got a vortex-thing working on my t-shirt.

I have a year to think about it. ;)
