I’ll be at showing at the Shelton Art Walk on July 25 between 12-6pm. I kinda signed up on the very last day without looking at the theme, which is Frolic! My watercolors aren’t very frolic-y and certainly don’t warrant exclamation points (I’m more of an ellipses girl), so I’ve been eyeing my larger, unpainted canvas supply with a thought to doing something completely different than what I submitted to get into the show. Curveballs are super-frolic-y! and inspire exclamation points!
So, what am I up to? Well, I’ve been gathering doilies and lace curtains from garage sales to pair with my garage-sale canvas collection — really, people toss old paintings into the free pile all the time! I’ve gesso-ed them up, applied a spray application and voila! Granny Graffiti! I’ll do some reductive painting on top and call it “in the spirit” of the show.
If you’re interested, they’ve tucked me away into Tollie’s Cafe on 118 S 3rd Street. Come ooh and ahh over it. Depending on time, I’ll post the WIP and finished work here. Eventually.
