I’m new to merchandizing my paintings, but I took a few lessons from last year’s art show<\/a>. One of my fellow artists (thank you, Miranda<\/a>!) gave me the skinny on what I needed to do.<\/p>\n

  1. Scan. I scanner for Christmas, so I was able to start digitizing my watercolors and things. It’s a\u00a0Canon CanoScan LiDE 400 Slim Color Image Scanner, less than $100, and it works great for the size I work in.<\/li>\n
  2. Print. She recommended Printkeg,<\/a> and I found the instructions to be pretty straightforward. I used Canva<\/a> to generate the images in the right size (5×7 & 4×6), with the appropriate crop marks, etc. I didn’t mess it up too badly. Most of the effort was deciding what to print and in what size.<\/li>\n
  3. Bag. Miranda also recommended Clear Bags<\/a> to get the packaging for the prints and originals. These come a little larger than the print sizes so it’s easier to put the items in the bag. Genius. Works great.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

    The prints came out great, and I can unreservedly recommend PrintKeg. I put one of the prints side-by-side with an original, and it was very close. Well done.<\/p>\n

    However, bagging these prints! Ugh, it took me about an hour to sort them out into sleeves. I hope that makes them more saleable.<\/p>\n

    I messed up branding, though, and don’t currently have anything to identify my prints. I hope I have time to craft and print some cards. Else, I guess I can print out something on the printer and cut them out. That’ll be fun, but it’s better than not having anything. I guess this means I also need to set up a mailing list. The thought of it is starting to give me hives.<\/p>\n
