When I threw this blog together, I had it in the back of my mind that this would be a place to discuss issues in my profession, gain some insights and become part of a larger community of people who also struggled with how to make the web a productive place. A part of me also considered that future employers might find me, know that I’m a gem, and whisk me away to a six figure salary…or something like that. It’s a wierd feeling to know that through my fragile connections on the web, I can also be responsible for making that happen for other people.<\/p>\n

A few weeks ago I found a reference made on Jack Vinson’s<\/a> blog about teaching a knowledge management course. Turns out, he was under consideration for a teaching position in the masters program I’m in, and I was able to make an endorsement to the program director. He was qualified for the position, but I think my recommendation helped.<\/p>\n

It’s been a few weeks, but I’m still excited that this connection existed. I look forward to seeing the next instance because I know it will happen again — it may be a long tail, but it’s still a small world.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
