I know I need to do “process” videos in order to really get stuff out there, but the truth is making these sucks and I’d much rather put my energy into actually painting. Consider stills in video format to be my compromise. (I threw pictures into Canva and exported it as an MP4, in case you wondered how that magic happened.)
Lately I’ve been drawn (ha!) to turning slice-of-life moments into watercolor/pen & ink glory. These seem to give my mind a better grasp on subjects than ambiguously lovely scenery. I’m surrounded by scenery in the Pacific Northwest, and yet, I can’t make myself paint nature. I’ll never get tired of looking at the trees, wildlife, and the sound, I’m just not sure the world needs another painting of them. Just me?
However, sneaking photos at the grocery store and the images into watercolors? Yeah, that feels fun. And a wee bit bad. Enjoy the poinsettias. It’s as close to a holiday image as I’m likely to make.
