Me: “Do freak treadmill accidents count as OSHA reportable safety incidents?”
He: “Why? Did you break our run?”
Me: “It was only 18 days.”
He: “Yeah, well, you didn’t break the 100 day streak. There would’ve been trouble if you’d been the one to do that.”
Me: “If this turns out to be an OSHA incident, can we write it up as ‘freak treadmill accident’ for the web site? Huh, can we?”
He: “Let’s hope it doesn’t count.”
Me: “It might not count since it was rec time. I didn’t even feel it sting until after I stopped running.”
He: “I don’t think that’s how OSHA measures things.”
Me: “I’m bringing a new standard to safety: work through the pain.”
He: “That might make you a real athlete, but I still don’t think it’ll fly with the OSHA folk.”
