I saw Rent tonight with my co-worker. I was all about the Producers, but I caved when he looked teary at the prospect of missing Rent. He has seen it at least five times. Five times, I swear. He declared this the best rendition he’s seen. It should be good — we were four rows back at the star-loaded Broadway production. I really enjoyed it, but I don’t think it’s something I would see again and again and again, etc. I certainly wouldn’t have been in the audience, eyes closed, singing along with every song. At least, I wouldn’t do that in the company of someone I didn’t know well. Just sayin’…
Anyway, the highlight of Rent was Drew Lachey‘s brother, Nick. He was in the audience to see Drew play the role of Mark. While it wasn’t a Chris Noth experience, it was a celebrity sighting. I’m leaving tomorrow, so I have to take what I get.
Cheers! I may not post from NYC again unless Chris shows up in the Financial District. There’s always a chance, right?
Wow, that was a really tough choice — the good part being that you weren’t gonna go wrong either way. Saw “Rent” twice myself, once in Chicago and once down here. At the show here, I met a guy who has seen it 40 some-odd times… yeah, not sure I need to do that, either. It’s an awesome show, though, and I will admit to both owning the soundtrack and still crying every time I listen to it.
Good luck in hooking up with Chris. And if you should happen to run into Jon Stewart, be sure to give him my love, won’t you??
Jon Stewart’s in NY? I haven’t been paying attention. *sigh* Maybe next time.
