Starbucks is moving in down the street and I’m not sure how I feel about it. On the one hand, it’s a step up for neighborhood hangouts. We don’t have a decent coffee house in Albany Park. And, if it’s a wireless Starbucks, then I can lug my laptop down there and work. On the other hand, it’s STARBUCKS! It’s part of the ugly retailization of America. It sucks the soul out of the neighborhood, chews it up, spits it out and makes it look like any other part of the city.
*grumble* Okay, when Barnes & Noble moves in, then I’m selling my condo.
